THE GEAR BEHIND MY EARLY ELECTRIC BLUES SOUND

Over the years, I've collected and regularly use a variety of vintage guitars, amplifiers, microphones, and other equipment in my recordings, lessons, and performances.

While I enjoy using vintage gear, I also believe you don't need expensive or hard-to-find equipment to get a great early electric blues sound. Much of it comes down to your approach, touch, volume, and how you play.

Below are some currently available guitars, amplifiers, strings, and accessories that I personally use and strongly recommend. Some are my primary choices for everyday playing and recording, while others are particularly useful for specific situations, such as busking, small performances, rehearsals, or practicing at home.

My approach has always been pretty simple: small amps, low volume, and letting the music breathe.

These recommendations aren't about collecting more equipment. They're about finding simple, practical tools that allow the music to speak for itself.
